My Birth Story

As a complementary therapist, it was only natural that when I found out I was expecting my daughter Megan, I would want to use these therapies to relax and support me through my pregnancy and labour.
I used Aromatherapy and Reflexology regularly, I joined an antenatal yoga group, read lots of books, and in the later stages took a course of Hypnobirthing. I wanted to have a home, water birth as I was scared of being out of control in hospital. I managed 19 hours of labour at home in my pool, without much trouble. Even when I was transferred to hospital due to complications, I managed to remain calm, positive and in high spirits even though I was exhausted. Sadly, circumstances did not allow the natural birth I had wished for, but I am certain that the preparation for labour had paid dividends in creating a positive mental experience of labour despite the daunting complications.
Since then I have also trained as a birth and postnatal Doula, helping to support women through this time.
I look forward to helping you to make your pregnancy and birth a beautiful, rewarding and deeply positive experience that you will treasure forever.
